I have in the past sent cookies to my son when he was stationed in Iraq and they made it over there just fine. I take 4-5 cookies and place them all facing the same direction. I wrap them in saran and then put the saran wrapped cookies inside a zip lock bag. I press all the air out and pack the box completely so nothing moves around. The cookies make it just fine. I put either crumbled up newspaper or paper towels around the edges of the box and the cookies inside it. You can also use "popcorn" - the styrofoam little balls or real unbuttered popcorn as an insulator for the cookies.

I'm sure your daughter will appreciate the homemade cookies. I happened to be lucky when my son first went over to be the only package that made it through for Christmas. My son shared his Banana Bread with all the fellows in his group - they all signed a note for me - thanking me for making their Christmas. Sure made me feel good to be able to help.

Get a box, wrap up the cookies say in 4's. Make sure they are cool. Pop some popcorn, no butter, no salt and put a layer of popcorn in the box, then some cookies, then some popcorn. End it with popcorn. You might want to pack wadded newspaper all around the edges of the inside of the box. I have done this and it does work. And she can always nibble on the popcorn too!

My son is in the Air Force. Since 2002 I've shipped brownies, cookies and cakes to various bases all over the world. It's easy to package them so they arrive intact. If I were sending cookies, I would use one of those disposable aluminum baking pans. Line the bottom with a layer of paper towels and place a layer of cookies on top of that. Then more paper towels and another layer of cookies. When you run out of cookies, cover it with several layers of paper towels, enough to fill to the top of the aluminum pan. Then take aluminum foil and wrap the whole thing tightly. Then you can slip that into a larger box, putting packing material around it so it won't move around a lot.

First, use a sturdy container; between layers of cookies, put a piece of bubble wrap (with small bubbles, cleaned to remove any trace of factory chemicals) between two pieces of waxed paper. Put more bubble wrap & waxed paper top & bottom so it's packed tight. Also make sure the container is well sealed so that the cookies don't dry out, absorb moisture, or come in contact with anything else.

I ship out cookies all the time. I usually purchase those $1 shoe box size totes and fill them up. You can decorate them with tissue paper (Christmas theme) and go under www.USPS.com and order the shoe size box they have. The tote fits perfectly in the box. Also, you can either ship it from your home or take it to the post office. Depending on the weight of the box....usually 5lbs shipped priorty mail through the post office will run ya $13.00 USD
