I have a fujifilm finepix f470 and after downloading to my computer I cannot view by double-clicking (I get sound but no video). I've also tried importing into movie maker, and Adobe Premiere, but only get sound there as well. There are no problems viewing them on the camera.
What am I doing wrong?

you might need to convert the movie file to a usable file. See what format the movie downloads as (MOV for example) and make sure your player can play MOV files. If not, go to file associations and check MOV, or convert the file.

went to their website for you and found info that says this cameras movie file format is avi. You should be able to view this in windows media player. If not then you probably need to find an avi viewer on net. I have successfully burnt this file type onto cd by using nero and making a vcd which was then viewable on a dvd player and pc.

i anticipate you have been utilising action picture-mode on a digital digital camera, and not utilising a camcorder. for this reason, iPhoto does not understand what to do with the clips. those clips are maximum in all probability merely .AVI information, which Quicktime can open. bypass and seek your memory card (use a card reader is my suggestion), and discover the information in Finder. Drag them out on your individual pc, then open the clips in Quicktime. If QT can't open, then acquire a loose Mac video participant referred to as VLC (VLC opens maximum something).

The video format for your camera is MJPEG (motion JPEG). Most personal computers lack the MJPEG codec which enables you to view or edit the video.

You need to install a MJPEG codec in your computer.
A free codec can be downloaded from:

I have no idea how well this codec works.

A payware codec that works well:

Your computer needs the right avi "codec" (coder-decoder) to see the video. You can find packages of codecs online. Just search for "avi codecs" there are free ones. You might try the Fujifilm website for avi support too or upgrade your media player.
