I am much older that you and have owned many cats in my life time. They are a lot like us, in as such so different from each other. Some have smelly bowel movements, some don't, some have bad breath, some don't. It is OK, especially since you had you cat checked out by the Vet. Maybe try a different litter brand, and make sure you scoop every day. Change the litter to fresh about every two to three weeks, even when scooping every day. Buy some Lysol Nutra Air, and keep close to the litter, it works great!!!

Has your Vet checked the cat for giardia or coccidia? Both can cause smelly loose stools. If your cat is an indoor/outdoor cat, it can pick these up from drinking contaminated water. Your Vet can put the cat on Pancur for 5 days and it will be gone.

I would ask the Vet for a course of Bactrim and worm him anyways.. My dog once had runny and bloody stools. The Vet checked him over and simply replied, "well we'll treat him for worms just in case and give him a course of Bactrim, which is a sulfa drug used for things like urinary tract infections and so on. One never knows what he may have eaten when you weren't looking"

Does your cat have any other symptoms? Mine had that issue, then she started to lose weight and then she couldn't stop drinking water and the vet found she had diabetes. The first sign was that her body wasn't processing food, so basically, she was dumping out half-processed food and god, you thought real poop smelled bad, this was enough to evacuate the entire neighborhood.

I have a tortie that has been doing that for 11 years. Same or more number of stools and REALLY bad smelling compared to my other cat.

The tortie is healthy, trim, and has lots of energy. She also never shuts up. But that's OK

You could try another vet, or just get a can of air freshener. At least it helps a little.
