No, it's only 'murder' if it is a human being.

Th 6th Commandment in the Bible says:
"Thou shalt do no murder"...murder is different from killing...murder is killing without cause. In the Old Testament there were many wars and animal sacrifices. This Commandment is speaking of murder...

it means people....

unless there is a voice inside of your head which you believe is the still small voice of God that is telling you to

...or of course, unless killing said person seems to be in line with "the word of God" found in the bible. there are a lot of murders and wars in the bible.

other than that there is absolutely no killing anyone.

well... actually... i mean unless you spend every second of your life in complete faith of God, worshiping him, then youre going to go to hell... and so in a way... God is killing you... every second, for all of eternity. so that kind of killing is allowed too.

really, if you come across someone who doesnt know that jesus is the one true messiah then you are allowed to kill that person.

plants and animals are just stupid beasts (despite the fact that they are built in the same way we are). as a human you have authority over all plants and animals and can do whatever you want to them because you have the divine gift of being able to think... unlike those stupid animals. ..so yes, you can kill them too.

It means that you should not kill another human in cold blood. Note that killing is allowed for wars and animals to eat. Killing animals without the intention of eating could be classified as murder.

What it really says (translated from the Hebrew) is, do not murder. It is our duty to protect our families. Remember when Jesus told his disciples to take a sword with them?
And how can the scriptures talk of killing the fatted calf, fishing and other things, if it were wrong?

Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought by another. Murder is generally distinguished from other forms of homicide by the elements of malice aforethought and the lack of lawful justification. All jurisdictions, ancient and modern, consider it a most serious crime. Most jurisdictions impose a severe penalty for its commission.

Except for plants, because they feel no pain and have no sentience, it should. God didn't specify what we could and couldn't kill. That being said, even though the bible is nothing but a bunch of malarkey to me, I don't kill anything, even bugs, and I certainly don't endorse the killing of animals to eat or to wear. I don't think that anybody has the right to take the life of anybody other than themselves. Just because we are people, and think that that gives us rights over species we deem "dumber" than us, doesn't mean that it's okay to kill them to do what we wish to them.

Edit: Dominion doesn't mean tyranny. The queen of England has dominion over her subjects, but she doesn't kill them and wear them.

Murder is an act born of hatred. It has to do with the taking of another person's life. It has nothing to do with animals.

If you read the rest of the Old Testament, you'll realize that only applies to Jews killing Jews. As for other groups, you are supposed to rejoice in smashing the heads of their babies upon the rocks.

Obviously, God lets us eat meat, and thus this doesn't include animals.

While Moses and the Israelites are in the desert, they make sacrifices to Yahweh, thus this commandment is shown not to include animals.

The case of Cain and Abel is more applicable of disobeying the sixth commandment.
