I need to know if its located in NYC, if not how far away it is from NYC.

Beacon is in Dutchess County, 70 miles up the Hudson River, across from Newburgh.
You can take the Metro-North Hudson line to Beacon station or by highway, get off the route 9D exit (I forget the number)...the last exit before the Newburgh-Beacon bridge off I-84.
