Usually it is spelled like this: Ay wey, ay guey ,or ay buey

Ay - "Oh!"

wey - "dude", "man", or "n1##@" (as used by african-americans)

so its like saying "oh man"

I might say that if I am upset about something or very excited etc..

also this is a very Mexican expresion.

spiffo and Mayra have the best answers. It's definitely slang, and I would add Mexican-American street slang, as I hear it used only by that population here in So. Cal. And yes, in some circles it is considered very crude and associated with "cholos" (gang members) although its use is no longer just limited to them. You spelled it wrong, although I'm not sure what the correct spelling would actually be? More like, Oye Buey or Guey.

1st. It could mean, "aye buey"! Which means your caught by surprise. 2nd It could mean, "orale buey!" Which means right on dude. 3rd. It could mean " hey buey!" Which means hey stupid.! You won't get an exact meaning, most people from hispanic heritage use it loosely. I was a youth pastor in hispanic neighborhoods for many years.
