I met him in the local grocery store in our small town. He said something to me and it caught me by surprise because he knew my name.
I lived 1 block away and would pass him occasionally in my car and thought he was some kind of loser mooching off a relative for free room and board. I had no idea he owned the house and was actually gainfully employed and recently divorced. I was in divorce court at the time just waiting for my court date.
I was walking my step grandaughter in a stoller and she was crying her head off and he offered me a place to sit down and some lemon aid on his deck, so I stopped, but the baby kept on squalling, so I left to take her home and rock her.
I ran into him in the hardware store about 3 months later while filling out a contract for phone service. He and I talked for awhile and he asked me over for a drink that nite.
I was very nervous, so I started sipping on a bottle of cheap wine. He called and asked if he could come pick me up, and so I said sure and jumped into the shower.
When I got to his house, we took a tour and he invited me into his bedroom to look at the ceiling. He asked me to stay there for a minute and when he came back, I was naked. Of course, I was lonely, drunk and so was he.
That was 6 yrs ago. We still have no plans to marry. He has some past to clean up and I own my own home, my kids are grown and I am moving along just fine without the piece of paper.
