We are going to spend a week in Antigua in January. Anyone have some recommendations on things to do. We already have house to I don't need accommodations. Thanks for your help.

The Interpretation Center at Shirley Heights has an excellent program about the history of Antigua.

Don't miss the Sunday night concert at Shirley Heights, which is on the northeast side of the island. They have great local bands, and a tasty barbeque dinner. Parking is at a premium, so get there before sundown.

The flea market in the Nelson's Dockyard has some great bargains on locally made crafts. The museum devoted to Lord Nelson is interesting.

For a charming meal, dine at the Admirals Inn, overlooking English Harbour. This guesthouse was built several hundred years ago. Food is delicious, prices are reasonable and the view is outstanding.

Have a great trip.

LOLOL,,, you vacation too darn much.

No offense to any who answer, or where they suggest. I'm just gonna add my two sense.

BE CAREFUL.

I prefer St. MAARTEN of all the Islands, but if you have your own house; perhaps you have contacts there; kinda like Locals? Guides?

My personal opinion is that Antigua is one of the more subtle, tourist, resort type Islands, and not strictly subject to some of the issues of places like Kingston, or San Juan.

Knowing that in JAN. ,,, NC is not so BEACHY, I'd probably wanna get sand between my toes. Oh wait, I can here, LOL. I'd probably shop stuff like hats and shirts too. I'd probably,,,only cuz it's how I am; wanna get IN TOUCH with the history and culture.

Museums are boring to some. I love em. Open air markets offend some? I bargain for a Fish Head. I want to assume they offer rentals for mopeds or scooters? I'd do that. I'd probably hang out at a popular Fishing pier, and recall you like to fish. I might only hang out to see what is a popular catch,,,or keeper, or throw back? I'd probably SHELL a beach. I'd probably have a refrig. full of beverages I might drink while watching the Sun come up and set. I'd probably ask if I could get the house for a week too? LOL. I'd visit a cafe that a local cab driver dines at. I'd avoid TV or radio available. Finally...I'd DANCE a lot.

Safe Journeys on ya.

Went there 3 years ago - Town at St. Johns is OK to walk around -although the fish market looked tatty. taxi drivers can pester you - school kids looked very smartly dressed. Lots of great beches - Fort James, Rynaway Bay. Nive Pizza Place in Redcliffe Quay, Coconut Grove has good food in Dickenson Bay, Hemingways in St. Johns has varied menu quite cheap from $10. Great views from Shirley heights. Sugar Plantation museum at Betty's Hope. Nelson's Dockyard at English Harbour. Enjoy!
