I am leaving my job at the end of December, thankfully, but I would like advice on how to deal with my boss until then. He is a nice enough guy, but very lonely, and tends to take any expression of politeness as a cue that the person denoting it wants to shag him. How do I continue being polite to him while making it clear that the only thoughts of shagging in my head are related to my boyfriend, and this after office hours.

He has actually met my boyfriend a couple of times, and- of course- doesn't think much of him. This is true for all the company "boyfriends", though. He knows I'm devoted to him, but this hasn't kept him from trying to hold my hand at company strategy meetings.

I think that you try to keep all your conversations with your boss on a professional level. If he starts to flirt or makes an inappropriate comment then change the subject to something work related - ask a question, etc.

You can also try to always be "busy" when he stops by to chat. "Boss, I'd like to talk to you but so-and-so needs me to finish this project right away."

Do you socialize with him outside of work (drinks with the office at happy hour, etc.)? If so, stop it right away. Like the other answer said, refer to your boyfriend that the two of you have plans, etc. and you can't go out with the office group.

Does he know you are leaving in December? Just curious.

You could mention your boyfriend every chance you get, and have him pick you up at the office and make sure your boss meets or sees him.
