Okay, come on....you have to tell me the story behind this. This is the second "at the hospital" question I've seen, and I suspect there are others. So far, your use of the English language with medical idiosyncrasies sounds completely conversationally correct. "Have you had a blood transfusion before?" is exactly what most doctors and/or nurses would ask.
