The Idaho National Guard was deployed to Kirkuk, Northern Iraq in 2004-2005. This was in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. They relieved the 2nd (Warrior) Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 25th Infantry Division of the US Army, and were relieved in place by the 1st Brigade (Bastogne) Combat team,101st Airborne.
