I am on my second boxer. The love of a boxer is amazing! I think you can potty train that puppy. Ideally it would be nice if you could take your vacation that first week. It will make it happen alot faster. Beware though; your life will never be the same again. Boxers require alot of exercise. My dog has at least two, one hour outdoor sessions per day. A bored boxer is a bad boxers. You will find yourself not going out on a Friday or Saturday night because you don't want to leave "your baby" and leaving family party's early to get back home to him or her. Boxers are so sweet! They love kids and other dogs. If you are going to get this puppy, educate yourself on dog traing so that you, your dog and the people around you will be happier. The dog needs an assertive, confident leader-Be that! Good Luck! You'll know you made the right decision when you see those sweet brown eyes staring back at you and years from now you watch his or her face begin to turn grey.

I have two! I can tell you just about anything, but it is going to get long winded since they are now both six years old.
Potty training ease (or not) is not breed specific, it really depends on how you go about it and how commited you are to getting it done. At 12 weeks, you should be able to knock it out pretty quickly, since that is a peak learning age.
I trained one of my boxers in less than a week. The other one, was a bit more of a challenge, but I think it was more my fault since I figured it would be the same as the first one. Each dog learns differently, just like people.
Boxers are fantastic pets. They do have challenges, like they really don't stop being puppies until later (a lot of breeds are no longer act like puppies once they hit about two years old). They are high energy and very protective of their families.
One boxer I used to have came and got me b/c I left my alarm clock on! She didn't like the noise, it was worrying her, so she paced back and forth until I got up and followed her to what was 'wrong.'
As with any dog, especially dogs that have been branded 'trouble breeds' by some people that are not educated, training is a must! You must teach a sit, stay, and down right from the beginning to help your dog be a good canine ambassador.
I love boxers! I think they are the best breed EVER! If you want more, just ask! :)

I have a lab/boxer mix...but I did quite a bit of research on the breed so that I know what to expect.
They can be a bit territorial and proud (they do not want to be submissive to other dogs.) When excited, they turn their bodies into a half circle (kidney bean.) My dog is very smart and easy to train...although when I adopted him, he was already house trained. You are going to need to stay on the training with your dog though, because boxers can be stubborn at times. They may know their commands very well, but at times may simply ignore you, or do the opposite of what you are asking (on occassion, when I tell my dog it's time to go inside, he turns and walks the other way) Good luck!

Boxers are really loving curios dogs. They originally came from Germany. They love to be outside and running around. But there is a common disease for boxers called Hip Dysplasia, this is when your Boxers hip bone becomes very stiff,so you want to walk them everyday!
