I own a six week old toy poodle. Shes to young for hard food& she has problems digesting it, so what should i feed her?

Edit* I am aware six weeks is too young to be away from it's mother, but the man that we purchased the dog from could not continue caring for the puppy, and her best chance was with us.

We have been feeding her puppy food soaked with warm buttermilk. Any other suggestions on what to be feeding her? She hasn't been digesting this food very welll----should we start using formula &a bottle?

Any other information? My mother bought Moxie from a truck driver, so the house seems kind of big, and roomy to her, I think.

This puppy is to young to be away from her litter. She should have been 8 weeks minimum and being a toy breed 12 weeks is best. Contact your vet and ask for a recommendation on what to feed her. Barring that I would recommend soaking dry food in puppy milk replacement formula.

Well since you question was about feeding the pup-not the age to wean a toy bred. What I do with a young pup is soak some type of puppie food in a mixture of canned milk, water and egg yolk (no uncooked egg whites) Make this into a cereal type of consistency and then give it to her. If she it having problems with digesting dog food at this time you could use baby rice cereal and add a little dry to it, crunched up, or premixed with mike & water.
depending on her weight you may have to feed her every 3-4 hours. Good luck. You seem to be paying close attention to her so I think it will be okay, just a little time consuming for the next 3-4 weeks.

are you sure it's the food I would think it's the butter milk that upsets her.
I use goats milk or formula.
at 6 weeks she shuld have her first vaccine esp. being away from mom.
I would also have her checked for worms tehmom and pups should be wormed at 2,4,6,8 and10 weeks.
Seh reallyisn't to young for the dry food.
My pups I begin weaning at 4 weeks by 6 weeks they are on just slightly moist food, i aslo leave a bowl of dry food down for munching.
I wold suggest bringing her to the vets and have a checkup, shots and worming done as soon as possible. If it is the food she can't digest it might be some underlying problem.

No Buttermilk thats sour milk puppies don't have a need for sour milk. Buy a good quality small bite food for your puppy. Moisten it with some water and also give puppy water in separate dish. You will see a big change in the eating habits and the puppy will have the nutrients which are needed at this age

you really shouldnt get a dog untill they are 8 weeks for a big dog and 12 weeks for a small dog. the reason behind that is the bitting they dont know when to stop they dont know it hurts you when you say ow they dont know how to react b/c they dont know it hurts b/c they didnt spend enough time with there bothers and sisters (sorry a little off topic but that will help later when she starts biting) but feed your dog puppy food but make sure its not large breed puppy food and look on the lable on the back for how much the puppy food has different things in it for differents sizes

Go to Petsmart and ask a Professional they'll know, but for now I suggest you get some Puppy milk from a Pet Store and give her that, the person that you got her from shouldn't have let her leave the mother till about 1-2 weeks later than 6 weeks.

the vet will have good suggestions! Actually, she is not to young to eat dry food. She is how ever to young to be away from its mom though. that is why she has problems digesting food b/c she was taken off moms milk w/o having time to be weaned yet!
