Unfortunately, there is NO such thing as "meals on wheels" for the elderly to have a decent hot meal every day today because of government cut backs it has all been stopped.

That is why you see advertisements on television for "Wiltshire farm foods" delivered to your door - at a price. The food is OK but it's FROZEN.

FRESH IS BEST.----------- It's all down to money isn't that sad.

Meals on wheels are pre-prepared meals consisting of a main meal and a dessert. People with dietary needs can have special meals such as diabetic, vegetarian, gluten free, kosher or halal. They are delivered to you by our approved provider Apetito Services.

Who is it for?
Meals on wheels are available to older people and adults with a mental health problem or physical, sensory or learning disability.

You might be eligible if:

you live on your own and are having difficulty cooking your own meals
the person you live with or your carer is not able to cook for you during the day
you are recovering from an operation at home and are unable to cook for yourself – you can get meals on wheels for the short-term.
What types of meals are available?
Hot meals can be delivered all year round. It is important to eat your hot meal straightaway rather than keeping it warm or putting it in the freezer. This will reduce any risk of food poisoning.

Frozen meals are delivered every two weeks. Instructions are provided for oven and microwave heating. To ensure food safety they must be kept in a freezer.

How much will they cost?
Each meal costs £3.10.

How can I apply?
To apply for a meals-on-wheels service you have to receive an assessment of your needs. This is described in our page about applying for adult services. The money available limits the services that we can offer, and we cannot meet everyone’s needs all the time. Some people will have more important needs than others and the assessment process helps us find out whose needs are greatest

Meals on Wheels Association of America helps fuel programs throughout the US that deliver meals to people who are elderly, homebound, disabled, or otherwise at risk of going hungry. It provides information, via conferences and newsletters, and tools, including bulk purchasing services, to Meals on Wheels programs that are members of the association. Meals on Wheels Association of America also works to obtain government grants and distribute money to local meal delivery programs. The Meals on Wheels concept was developed in the UK during WWII and introduced in the US in 1954.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/x15TB

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

It's something you will find out in your twilight years. It's a meal delivery service for elderly people. Just mind the sausages.

Ther won't be any dolly birds on roller skates serving the meals though.

Hot food, a lunch and a dessert delivered to the elderly for a fee.Lots of old people aren't able to prepare their own food so it's great for them. They don't have to shop for it either. I guess it's a take-away really.
