when i had braces the orthodontist gave me two rinses:
the first one i still use today. it is Plax rinse..you rinse before you brush your teeth and it helps loosen anything on your teeth.
second, i had some kind of flouride rinse. i don't remember what it was called, but i'm sure if you ask in the store somebody can help you.
just using these two rinses, brushing carefully, and flossing every day kept my teeth clean and i had no outlines when i got my braces off!

It may not be your teeth that are actual yellow, but the rubberbands that are used on your braces get discolored as you eat (especially after eating things like pasta sauce, BBQ). I used to have this problem because I always wanted the white/clear rubberbands whenever they were changed.
My suggest to having nice straight and white teeth after the braces are to not drink coffee, invest in a Hydrofloss (so worth the price), brush more than 3 times a day, and use Crest whitening strips after the braces are off. Those were the things I did and I've gotten so many compliments on my teeth and their whiteness.

Brush all the time. It's the only way. Also talk to your dentist about a prescription whitening rinse since you are unable to floss good enough and see what he/she can give you. Braces suck!! They are wonderful for straightening your teeth but a pain in the butt during the process and you really do need to brush and rinse as much as possible if you want to keep your teeth as white as possible. That goes for people without braces too!! LOL!! : )

Brush your teeth with toothpaste every time you eat, as soon as you can. Make sure to get above and below the brackets separately, and move the brush in little circles. To get the food out from in between the brackets, there are special brushes you can buy (I got mine from my orthodontist for free). I also use a waterpik machine, that kind of pressure washes it out. It really helps to get the big pieces of food out first, then actually brush. Don't brush hard, just thoroughly (a minute or two).

Brush your teeth often, use whitening tooth paste. Don't worry about the white marks, after you or your parents pay for the braces, another $150.00 won't make a difference when you have you teeth professionally whitened! Plus - teeth whitening is a great reward for all your suffering!!!

avoid eating foods that can damage or dislodge braces. Hard foods such as candy, raw carrots, corn on the cob, pretzels, nuts, popcorn and crushed ice are off limits. Sticky foods to avoid include caramel, taffy and gum. These foods can get stuck between teeth and gums or bend wires and knock bands or brackets loose. If this results in damage to braces, treatment may be extended

i know exactly what you're going through!! I had braces for 2 years- and really, the secret is to brush, use mouthwash, floss- and then, get one of those flossers where it has the little, soft brush on it- instead of actual floss and use it between your teeth and the braces. here is an example: http://www.dentalgentlecare.com/proxybrush.htm
ask your orthodontist if they have anything like that. :)

You have to brush them all the time. I had braces and didn't get the white marks you're referring to.

Well, brush your teeth, but hold your brush kind of vertically (u know, with the bristles pointing down?), and move the brush up and down so that some of the bristles go BETWEEN the wires and your teeth.
