I love the American accent, I do hear it a lot on TV but when an American boy comes to Australia, all you want to do is kiss them. Although I hate it on TV but in real life it is great!!

As someone has already said we hear the American accent so much via TV, movies and music that it is not out of the ordinary or exotic. Generally when I hear it spoken in person I would say it is more irritating than anything else. The exception here is probably the southern accent. It is really cool. I have worked on farms in my university holidays and as such worked with backpackers from all over the world (including illegal workers from the US - apparently you can't work in Australia or something) and the American accent is bottom of my list - sorry.

Sexy?

No way, do I think that American accent is sexy. In fact I don't find any accent sexy. I don't dislike the accent - I just don't find it sexy.

Some say the French accent is sexy.......but to me it sounds like they are speaking through their noses when they talk!

To be honest, I personally don't think American accent is cool. Especially the way Americans pronounce "can" and "can't" just like the same! I most like British accent.

To me it depends on where, in the United States, the person is from whether I like the accent or not. (I don't find any of them sexy.)
Some American accents and pronunciations set my teeth on edge.
If most Americans like Australian and UK accents it just shows what good taste they have. :-)

As been stated stax of times previously... we see enough of it on tv... most of our shows are american so we're kind of used to it. When theres an amercan in a bunch of aussies the accent just sounds annoying. I think the Brittish is really sexy though =D

The American pronunciations of Australia words can be really annoying sometimes. Examples:
Brisbane (Pronounced BRIS-bun) as bris-BAIN
Melbourne (MEL-buhn) as mel-BORN
Emu (E-myoo) as E-moo
Aussie (Ozzie) as Ohss-ee

Otherwise, it's simply a matter of preference. I found the accent of an American girl I knew particularly attractive, and enjoyed hearing her talk, but hearing Americans on TV doesn't really interest me.

I think it's just different.

And so much of what Aussies see on TV comes from the US, that it may be a bit exciting. Not necessarily sexy, though! That depends on who's using it!

To answer your question - NO.
That is NOT the same as "We don't like the accent".
Just that we don't think it is "sexy"
