You really should clarify your question.

NATO was a military alliance created by the victorious Western Allies in April, 1949, to counter Soviet aggression. With World War II over, much of Europe was in ruins, and easy pickings for the preying Soviets, who had already begun spreading their influence in Asia. In order to avoid a repeat, the Europeans Americans formed NATO, to keep the Soviets at bay, and stop the influence of communism.

The 1955 Warsaw Pact, was basically the Soviet's way of countering NATO. It was a military alliance of socialist states in Central and East Europe.

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Was basically the USA, England and several European countries who banded together to deter the USSR and the spread of communism. Warsaw Pact was the USSR's answer to NATO only completely opposite.
