In Canada they need to have probable cause also, but all they have to say is they thought you were acting suspicious. It's the same if you are driving. They are sopposed to have a reason.

I don't think the first guy has been paying attention to what is happening in the USA lately but the police can do whatever they want wherever they want! Don't believe me, well, google HR 1955...that is Americas last civil right and it is on it's way out! The world is responsible for this mess...not just the US! The people of the world have to come together and stop this! This is not just one countries problem people< The elite can live anywhere they want, and they do!!

Actually if a police office has reasonable suspicion that you could have something dangerous in your backpack they can approach you and search your bag.

they're supposed to have probable cause, but depending on the cop they can make up almost anything and get away with it.

I don't know about Canada, but in the US, that is a no-no. They (I) would need probable cause. Without it, your civil rights would be violated, and that's a civil suit. I just don't know your civil law. Sorry, but if they try that crap in the US, put them in check.

They can't LEGALLY do it, but they will often do so anyway- at least in the U.S.
