The flies are VERY friendly this year.

Recently I have heard grumbles about the possible reintroduction of an old Dung Beetle program run I think by the Ag Dept but closed many years ago now which was designed to keep refuse levels under control thereby reducing the areas available for flies to breed.

Seems somewhat logical although flies have always been a nuisance in Australia as any local can tell you.

Cheers :)

It's because of all the tigers. Actually there seem to be more here in Canberra this year than there have been for years and this is the second time this question has been asked on YA recently. Wonder whether it's continent - wide or just a fluke?

Recent rainfall in parts of eastern Australia after a long dry might be the reason - but that does not account for Perth.

I heard on the news the other day that there are more flies about this year due to the late presence of the dung beetles.

Apparently the weather pattern has caused a late hatching - or something like that.

i might advise you e book a minimum of the 1st nights stay each and every time you progression from one area to a different. no longer reserving in improve has that is reward like getting fellow visitors techniques on the place to stay, what to be sure and who to e book it with the aid of to get the main suitable deals. maximum funds commute companies have final minute specials yet you'll be versatile. Australia is an exceptionally enormous place so it is particularly useful to charm to up somewhat an itinerary of what you prefer to be sure earlier you go away so which you get to be sure all of them. Be warned college holidays and public holidays would be greater high priced than different situations and much busier so which you will ought to examine reserving over that factor.

I guess it is because the place is so dry, the flies are looking for moisture on humans.

Flies breed in garbage and dung. There is plenty of both in cities so there are plenty of flies. Don't forget the aerogard.
