Praying to graven images is idolatry. Christians are forbidden from this practice.
In Christ
Fr. Joseph
St. Boniface,
That is a great post and very accurate and Scriptural. You certainly are not lying but telling the truth. It seems the one asking the question does not want to hear the truth.

ive been around alot and have known many different types of people, and have yet to see or hear of anyone praying to a graven image. things are going to happen the way they are supposed to. praying, i dont think, will alter that. it works in the movies tho.

I must say as a non-Christian, my observations are that Christians, indeed, pray to images, statues, pictures, symbols, etc.
Hindus do also.
I am sure there are other religions that do too. But, I am not familiar with them.
The Old Testament forbids this worship or acknowledgment of images. This is where my belief originates. We pray to G-d alone. Not saints, helpers, angels, etc.

I am Jewish. I don't bow down to statues or pray to images, I pray to the one, the only omnipotent God that created the earth & heavens and all the other good stuff in between! He has no face that I can see, but has my faith endlessly!!! He was, He is, and will be for all time the one and only true God!
(Images, photos, statues etc...not required!)

I'm Baptist,we don't bow to graven images.True Baptists are bible believing Christians. Yes,there are phony ones.Satan
has a way of counterfeiting and accusing the true believer. I will even venture to say that
no one can disbelieve the word of God and be
a real Christian.

If you are a Christian, you would pray to God in the name of His Son Jesus Christ. If you're not a Christian and don't believe in the only true Living God, I guess it doesn't matter how you pray.

That's a classic question that was brought up hundreds of years ago during the Protestant Revolution.
You might want to do a search on the web on the subjects of "Martin Luther" and the "Protestant Revolution".

christians do seem to pray to a cross-like image or atleast the symbolism of it, being an image still, people mournn their religions too much anyway. Enjoy your religion and your beliefs, enjoy your life and dont bother with others beliefs and what they say about you.
