It's unlikely anything is broke by stepping on him (depending on how hard and with what kind of shoes), but if he's limping and there's swelling it's very likely a sprain that can wait until the morning. I would try icing it for him and keeping him confined to one small room until morning (with him food and litter near where he'll sleep for the night) to keep him off the paw as much as possible overnight. If he is desperately staying off the paw and wincing or biting if you touch it, it may be broken and you need to immediately bring him to a pet emergency room (if available where you live). Regardless, it sounds like he'll need a trip to the vet tomorrow. Accidents do happen, but hopefully your sister will share the expense and your kitty will be fine after he gets some care from the vet. Night. >^..^<

There are emergency vets you can go to. You can't give your cat anything you would have at home or or buy that is safe. Tylenol will kill your cat, as will most of the human/dog pain meds.

Get her to the e-vet immediately. You should be able to find one in the phone book, or most vets list an emergency vet's number on their voicemail.

It sounds like it is a broken foot. You will want to spend the extra money at the e-vet now or you could face complications that will result in an enormous bill is you wait until Monday.

EDIT: Get the cat to the vet, don't give it any pain meds, even if it is for children. It is not made for cats and doesn't metabilize the same. There has also been a lot of articles on how those medications are not even safe for children.

It could be sprained or broken. If you've got an emergency vet around you I would take it there. Why'd your sis step on her? Just didn't see her? If it's swelling what I would do is somehow wrap some ice in a towel or put in plastic bag and this part will be tricky but maybe you can get help but put the cats paw on it for maybe 5 minutes at a time. If it's swelling it could be infected too. Just keep an eye on it. Ice it for maybe 10 minutes on, break for 10 minutes, for maybe a half hour at least. Definitely take to the vet though as soon as you can.

Good luck! And don't give her any meds. It probably does hurt but try cuddling it if she'll let you and fixing up a special bed area for her that she could try to relax in.

Under NO circumstances give a cat any aspirin, ibuprofin, or acetaminaphen. Those things will KILL it! And, any prescription meds that you might have, could be harmful, too. Only vets know which meds that are safe for cats! The best thing to do, for now, is put some ice on it, to keep the swelling down, and take it to your vet ASAP. In most cities, there are emergency vet clinics, for "before/after" hours. Look in your phone book for the nearest one. If you love your cat, you'll do the "right" thing for her. Good luck.

There are always emergency vets on call. Just start calling around and the vets usually have a answering machine that will give you this information or an answering service will answer their phone. Do not give the animal any medications without talking to a vet first, it could seriously harm them.

infant Tylenol chew ables. I've been doing it for a long time with different pets and my pets are ok. A vet said to do it.
