Here is a QUOTE from the poodle club of america's website:
"Color
Major Faults: Parti-colored dogs shall be disqualified. The coat of a parti-colored dog is not an even solid color at the skin but is of two or more colors. "

Actually, its only a color disqualification in AKC shows. In United Kennel Club shows, parti-poodles are allowed. So what you should probably do, is look at the UKC's website and see if you can find a UKC poodle breeder near you. If you can't, try going to a UKC show and talking to the poodle exhibitors to find out who has nice parti-poodles in your area. Parti poodles are decently popular in UKC, but you won't EVER find one in AKC, at least not through a reputable AKC breeder. If your parti-poodle is AKC registered it should throw up some red flags as to the quality of the breeder. And never buy a dog just because it is listed as "rare", ussually there is a good reason that they don't allow, for example, white dobermans or silver labs. Anybody who advertises there dogs as "rare" is just out to make a buck. -Neb

properly, they ought to not be extra severe priced. a respected breeder in a lot of circumstances expenditures depending on the dogs's conformation; it extremely is, potential as a educate dogs. (A "puppy" high quality dogs will cost a lot less, notwithstanding it is going to nevertheless be a stunning spouse.) A breeder that expenditures extra for a probably "uncommon" colour is a pink flag--in a lot of circumstances a BYB or domestic dog mill operator. Parti-colorations, BTY, are shown in Europe, yet interior the U. S. parti-colour is a disqualification interior the educate ring. there is not any reason you'll't be a perfectly good puppy, regardless of the reality that. notwithstanding, a respected US breeder should not be breeding them deliberately. Do be careful picking a breeder. Small poodles are very universal with domestic dog mill operators.

They'd be very rare since it's a color that's a disqualification for poodles according to the standard.

Stulisa4 - I don't think they were bashing. Just indicating that the color might be rare since it's disallowed in the standard.
Among people who don't show however - this color is pretty popular. So you should be able to find a parti pretty easily.
It just wont be quite as nice looking as the show dogs.

they are rare cause it is not a color that can show. while they do look intresting. please look in to the standard breed. they can be a hyper breed. if u like the color why not look in to a Portuguese Water Dog http://www.akc.org/breeds/portuguese_water_dog/

They aren't that rare around the southeast us. Depends on where you are really. And who says that the 'show rules for color' are like the bible for dog owners? Sheesh...Pay no attention to the bashers. If they don't want to show that color fine but it doesn't mean the dog has any genetic faults.
