Semper. I like you and I respect your choice of a belief system. Here is the respect I show to any Christian. If they add me as a contact, I send them an e-mail, stating (as if they didn't know ) that I am an atheist, and if they have a sense of humour, and can put up with my antics, I can be friends with everyone. However, there is a very strong difference between what a Christian may find insulting and what an atheist would find insulting. Not because either is bad, but it is like translating Mandarin Chinese into Kraft Noodles and Cheese. Thought systems may be too radically different to ever bridge the gap. Much respect, but after all, I am an atheist.

i agree 100%- tash is a prime example! most of the atheists i know in 'the real world' are like that as well-the best friend i've ever had (she and i have been buds for over 30 years) is an atheist-we've been thru thick and thin, and the differences in our beliefs have made no difference at all in our love, respect, and admiration for each other
btw, people need to stop fussing about the AM...i hear they're into pie and punch...and who doesn't like that?

Thats the kind of people I like, regardless of religion. Respecting others beliefs is key to any meaningful discussion or relationship. Religion should not be a boundry that leads to ill will or insults.
Kudos to you :D

There are many wonderful Christians here.
They have also been targeted and insulted by other Christians.
I give respect when I see it is given to others.

It certainly is easier to stomach people who don't insult you, but I would say that we are to treat even those who DO insult us with respect --- I think that's what Jesus was saying with "love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" and "turn the other cheek". It really doesn't matter if they give us respect or not --- it is still our job to give THEM respect. :)

You know what kind of Christians I like? Those who can talk about their beliefs without being judgmental and those who are comfortable with saying that there are atheists whom they actually like, instead of saying they'll all burn in hell.
So thank you :)
