I am putting together small baskets with goodies for my friends. Any suggestions of what to put in? I have chocolate covered pretzels so far and spiced nuts. Thanks!

Bread. I love to get home made bread. I also give baked bread for gifts. Everyone loves it. You can bake them in the mini loaf pans.

Orange Pumpkin Bread

INGREDIENTS
1 large orange
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 1/3 cups white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin
1/3 cup water
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chopped raisins

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Cut orange into wedges, and remove seeds. Place orange, peel and all, in a food processor. Pulse until finely chopped; set aside.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the pumpkin, water, and the ground orange. Mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Stir into batter just until moistened. Stir in nuts and raisins. Spoon into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes, then remove from pan, and cool on a wire rack.

Pumpkin Cranberry bread

INGREDIENTS
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 cups white sugar
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup chopped walnuts

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 9x5 inch loaf pans (or 4 mini loaf pans).
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder and salt.
Combine eggs, sugar, pumpkin and oil in small mixing bowl, beat until just blended. Stir the wet mixture into the dry with a wooden spoon until batter is just moistened. Fold the cranberries and walnuts into the batter. Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes. (If using mini loaf pans, begin checking bread after 25 minutes.)

You could also add pints or half pints of hot chocolate mix. Search Y!Answers for recipes that use powdered milk, etc. then your friend just has to add the hot water...just like Swiss Miss and the other packaged brands.

And a few home baked cookies are a natural to add. You can either wrap them individually or in a small container, depending upon how large your baskets are and the other items you include.

That is so nice of you. How about pop corn, mini muffins, chex mix, some hot cocoa, tea or coffee. You can also put a mug in there w/a pack of cup a soup.
