ORTHOPEDIC LEG? If you are not physically capable of meeting the stringent physical requirements and are wearing an orthopedic device, it's very unlikely you can join. BUT...if you are already IN, and something happens and you can prove you are capable of performing you mission, then you can stay in. This has happened. Ever see MEN OF HONOR the movie about MASTER DIVER MASTER BOS'N CHIEF CARL BRASHEAR? He lost his leg, and PROVED he could do his job. There's a pilot in the Navy (I THINK he's still in and hasn't retired) who lost part of his leg and stayed in. But those are exceptions.

Current loss of a foot or any portion thereof is disqualifying for entry into the armed forces.
Your "state rep" can't change that standard and he can't get you a waiver either.

I doubt you can join. You would have to prove (through legal channels) that you could do everything and you had no limitations.
But here are cases of people who lost limbs while serving and were allowed to stay in. check out this link!

Do you mean a prosthetic leg? If so, no, you cannot join the military.

No the military have no requirement for disabled civilians.
