You may need to go see a doctor to determine if there is a problem with your bowel function. There is no way for any of us to tell what your issue may be at this point. It is probably constipation, but it is difficult to tell. You need a clinical examination.

However, I can ease your mind about a colon bag . . they are strictly for people who no longer have a colon. In general a person can live without a large or small intestine . .they just use a stoma and colon bag. It has nothing to do with constipation. You can lose your colon from ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohns disease, or cancer that has affected the bowel. An operation is performed that removes the diseased parts of the large or small intestine, the surgeon creates a 'stoma' located on the outside of the stomach area, and a colostomy bag is used to handle the waste. I have known teenagers who have had this done. It is not something that anyone wants, no one wants cancer, but it is a life or death choice. People learn how to live with it or they die.

Eat more fruits and vegetables daily, and drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Cut back on sugar. Drinking a cup of prune juice will help soften your stools. Don't worry, we all experience hard stools from time to time. However, if it is experienced all the time, then you should see a doctor.

Are you eating differently or drinking less water this month than you did before? That can have an effect on your stool. It is best that you see your doctor to rule out anything else.

You need to see a doctor to get reassurance that there is nothing wrong with you, and if there is a problem you need to receive treatment.
