a dice is a uniform cut and comes in three sizes, small-medium-large. Chop means to randomly cut an item up with your knife. Um, another way to say it would be that a chop is like mincing but not as fine.

If your reading a recipe and it says dice an onion, its the same as chopping it. Unless the ingredient is supposed to be in perfect cubes for some reason, its basically the same.

No. They mean different things in cooking. Some of the meanings are hard to find. Some old cooking dictionaries or experienced cooks can help you with the specifics. Pinch, dash and such are also different.
