My puppy cries when I try to pick him up, and then starts biting, but when my dad picks him up... he's not scared

Its depends on the shot. Some are given in the hind quarters, some are given in the scruff on their necks, others can be given anywhere there is a lose skin flap, or extra fat

You need to be gently with the dog, and let it come to you.. dont go over and pick it up out of the blue.
Also, support its back end so as not to hurt his legs...
You also need to remember, if you live with your parents, he is going to view your parents as the pack leaders, and you as a sibling..

The more up to date method is to give dogs and cats vaccinations in the leg so that if (when) there is a VAS, they can just lop the limb off. The older method was to give them in the scruff of the neck or shoulder.

All vaccinations should be given in the hind end/hip area.it is NO longer recommended to give vaccinations in the scruff of teh neck.
Also vaccinations are NOT given in a vein. They are given sub-Q.

On the back of the neck. Where the mother would pick them up and carry them in her mouth. You just lift up that part of the skin and stick the needle in. They don't even notice it. It bothers me to do it more then it bothers my dog.

Under loose skin.
It can be the scruf of the neck or back by their hip.

well it is usally this skin on the right or left part of the neck? does your dad play with the pup more? when you pick him/her up and they wine sooth them and let them calm down? and sit thee and pet him/her.
