Seriously I got through Genesis and I have like 30 questions just from that. This is my second time to read and heck I have more questions that I probably did in the first reading.
I am not trying to mock anyone's beliefs but I don't understand how anyone could believe all that is written.
Those who believe do you ever have those seemingly silly questions like:
1) Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?
2) Why wasn't Cain's fruit as good as Abel's flock in God's eyes?
3) Where did Cain and Abel get thier wives?
4) Why did God regret his decision to create man if he knew that later on man would disappoint god anyway.
5) The Great Flood was considered a fresh start for man, yet Original sin stuck?
I really could go on and on...

They seem like silly questions but they are questions that deserve answers to right?

The more you read it, the less you will believe in it.

1) Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?-And this is an important question....why?
2) Why wasn't Cain's fruit as good as Abel's flock in God's eyes?-He may have been holding back his best.
3) Where did Cain and Abel get thier wives?-Probably sisters. Sounds yucky, but this was thousands of years before God forbade incest and the gene poll would not have been so corrupted.
4) Why did God regret his decision to create man if he knew that later on man would disappoint god anyway. Parents know their children will dissapoint them, but that doesn't stop them from wanting children.
5) The Great Flood was considered a fresh start for man, yet Original sin stuck?-Yes, but it also gave us Abraham, David and eventually Jesus.

Trying to completely understand God is like a garden slug trying to fully understand the gardener.

Are you going to tell me that you fully understand everything in your life? I don't even fully understand myself.

You are not being silly, you are using your brain! These questions don't bother me anymore, but I have had the benefit of many years of study with excellent teachers who helped me understand the difference between metaphor and history, poetry and prose, and even what were funny puns and plays on words in the original Greek and Hebrew. (Can you imagine how badly puns come across in translation?) And also, I've learned that some stuff just isn't as important as others. What matters more, learning the purposes of God, or whether Adam and Eve had belly buttons? The only time I get annoyed with these questions is when people ask them and obviously are thinking, "Aha! They'll never get around this. I have found a way to topple Christendom AND Judaism!" Do they honestly think no Jew, Christian, or Muslim wondered about the creation story before? Do they think we might have done just a little--say hundreds of years--of study on the subject?

It's never a silly question when you really want an answer, and there are people willing to discuss it with you respectfully.

Funny, I have the same questions. If you ask a thousand
people, you'd get a thousand answers.
I think Original sin is on the outs today though.
Adam and Eve had to travel a lot to find wives, don't you think? Why wouldn't Cain and Able have belly buttons.
Since we were made in the image and likeness of God,
do you suppose He had one too?
Sometimes I wonder about the men who wrote the bible, some years after Christ died. I really do.
????????
Stand in line with that one.
Mostly it's great for locations at that time in history, got to give them that.

You believe with your heart. You have to read more chapters. That was the beginning., If you continue to read you will see everybody is being tested by God. Life is a test. Either you will pass or fail. The reason Jesus was here is so God can see how we are tempted in the flesh. Just read on with an open heart. Jesus died for all our sins. Don't believe everyone's word either. Just follow your heart and you will know the right answers. The bible have all the answers. Its the key to living a fulfulling life.

They are not silly, I'm glad you asked.
1. The bible doesn't say, but I believe they did
2. God told Cain what kind of sacrifice would be acceptable, but Cain didn't bother to do what he knew was right.
3 The wives of Cain and Abel were their sisters ( no genetic mutations in those days)
4 He regreted it because of the gross level of sin they were in. The bible says they could think of nothing but wrong things continually.
5The great flood did rid the earth of the corrupted people, those who had liasons with evil and their children. God gave mankind a fresh start.
We all have lots of questions when we first start to study the word of God. We can get our answers in bible study and in Church. Why not find one this week? It will help you.

Amplified Bible is cool, i like it yet each and every so often i'm getting somewhat distracted with the super descriptive nature of it. NIV is a reasonably clean study. i admire the NKJV, it retains the poetic and lyrical tenor to the writings. Revised time-honored is respectable. I nonetheless have not warmed as much as the Message. I by no potential had plenty concern understanding KJV in straightforward terms by way of fact i exchange right into a extensive fan of Shakespeare and that i understood the sentence and word homes comfortably. ok... sorry if it exchange into too plenty info. yet I do desire you get some useful solutions. thank you for being cool.

The Bible is a very deep and advanced science book written by God in a way to renew It's self as mankind's scientific knowledge evolves over time. Our scientific advancements will force us to reinterpret more and more scripture back into the scientific text God originally wrote it in. Changing it over time from the ancient religious book we thought it was into a modern and advanced science book to force mankind to follow if we want to continue to survive on Earth. You and the rest of the world have a lot of reading and studying to do before you realize this.

You're starting from the wrong place. The bible is divided in half. The first half is the old covenant God gave to the Jews only. The second half is the new covenant that is for us today. If you want to understand the bible and who Jesus was read the gospel of John first. Then after you've read that, then go back to Genesis.

These answers cannot be answered without a giant leap of faith/ignorance. The bottom line is that the bible was written by a bunch of different dudes a long time ago to control the masses. It's no different than any other religion, yet every religion thinks theirs is correct. Critical thinking destroys religion.
