Volunteering for military service is definitely something that both partners should have a say in. You both have to decide early on if its gunna be something u can both deal with including the possibility of deployment in a combat zone. Wither u break up or you commit to the whole trip.

It really depends some stay by their man because they really support him and love him and are willing to make the sacrifice of not being able to spend time with him, but knowing that in the end they will finally be togther and are willing to take the chance. Others break up either before or during cause they cant handle the distance and being alone. They need someone near them. If both knew that the military was involved than they both know that they are going to be in a long distance relationship and that they are going to go through a rough time, but love is stronger than distance.

break up for over what reason? if you care about him, breaking isn't a solution. and if the girl breakup with you because of that she isn't worth a dime. I married to a military guy. It takes more than the commitment to stay in marriage. they are gone most of time and if you can't even deal with this short time, what about the long haul that is coming?
