Isn't it a coincidence that the illegal immigration debate happened after 9/11. Why is Xenophobia on the rise in the US?

Soewifijio (however you spell your username) I presume you didnt watch the video. The so-called "illegal immigrants" are settlers. Just like your ancestors were who came to America. The only "un-illegal" settlers in America are the Native Americans.

I recommend people watch the videos. The ones in control are fear mongering the Middle Class of this nation so they can use the mexican settlers as a scapegoat for the economic troubles ahead!

Illegal aliens are not settlers, they are criminals. This is not the 1500's, it's almost 2008. I was born in American and there is nothing illegal about me. I belong here and illegals don't. Simple.

Xenophobia... most of the people giving comments are very prejudiced... some "illegal" people go to college and pay taxes and have productive lives that do not interrupt with so-called natives. Also, the comment that "illegals" have it much easier here than citizens is bullcrap... undocumented people don't have several rights including that of driving and financial aid. Some of those people didn't ask to be brought here either... some are brought by parents or relatives as children; I don't see how one could blame that.
Also, there are several underlying causes for this; one of them is the United States past and present foreign policies with Mexico. Mexico was basically ruined by the US's imperialistic policies in the early 1900s.
Also, despising so-called illegal immigrants is cultural hypocrisy... Native Americans ("indians") were here before anyone and the European settlers basically wiped them out. Then the US acquired Mexican territory through very unscrupulous means including instigation and deceit. Any American citizen is in reality an illegal immigrant, so therefore judging others like that is hypocrisy.
Lastly, let's look at the practical and human side of things; illegal aliens are human beings with feelings and differences among themselves; it is very unfair to categorize them all as criminals who ruin the country (especially if the country needs their labor). These people are not getting in anyone's way; I don't see any Americans starving because of Immigration... perhaps it is because Immigration is just a distraction from real problems like the war and education. I can see why people get defensive about their country's border, but if millions of families are willing to take such a dangerous risk it must be for a reason, and perhaps one that is not as irrational as most people want it to be. The underlying cause for the problem is either because American citizens are xenophobic and just cannot accept other cultures like the Mexican one and are disgustingly prejudiced about groups, or that Americans want to look at it as a problem... regardless of how little an effect immigration has on their life in actuality... People are pushed to look for a better place and Americans just have too many advantages that are not necessarily inherent in humans... it's just luck to be born an American...

Wrong they are not settlers, they are illegal immigrants. There is no such thing as unlimited resources anywhere. That is a basic law of science that anyone can understand. This is our country and you're ok with giving up your neighborhood to people who have loads of children at 14 and then they have loads of children at 14 they're out gunning you by a wide margin. First off they have more children, 2nd they reproduce at an earlier age. Two generations of them x12 children by the time you graduate college and have two children. And yes it is 'convenient' that this immigration thing 'suddenly' becomes newsworthy right after we started investigating 9/11 and people started speaking up publicly. Fear is how the US govt and its agents keep us in control, the american people are sheep. Worthless sheep with no backbone to speak of. GW and his cronies would've been run out of office a long time ago had he been in office in ANY other country other than China and Russia. 20-30 million illegals are not in this country overnight, this problem has been going on and no one, not any one (govt agency) is doing anything about it. "Why?" is the question we should be asking. If a common car thief (lives 2 blocks from me) can get deported x2 and be back here within months what chance would a well organized group of individuals with money and materiel have? Our borders being wide open is also not by chance. The xenophobia you speak of is real, its part fear, part anger but that same bs has been used against blacks for decades. This is being used to distract us from what's going on behind the scenes regarding 9/11 but the illegal problem is real. Again, there is no such thing as unlimited resources and for your information soewijfino is right.

Why is Xenophobia on the rise in the US?
-----------------------------------------------------------
My country invites more immigrants than any three other countries combined. They come, obey the rules, and they live. So suggesting xenophobia is on the rise is coming straight out of the mouths of folks who want cheap labor.. and the lobby groups who work for the Mexican Government.

These links do an excellent job of dealing with those who are so foolish as to suggest xenophobia.

I would suggest you start here..

anchor babies are the single most expensive swindle this country has ever endured. But the Illegal Aliens... and that is the correct name for them, are the second biggest swindle this country will ever see. Tell you something else too... the youth of this country are going to pay for it long, long into the future.

Maybe you didnt pay attention in history class. Illegal immigrants now arent settlers as the land is already settled, not to mention we paid mexico dearly for this land they are trashing currently. Immigration has been a key issue in the SW for decades, so you have been mis-informed. Its not hype or phobia, criminals are being treated better than citizens, and arrogantly flaunting our inability to remedy the problem. Im sure if i hopped the border in mexico they'd put me up in a nice house, give me free doctor visits, a job, a shiny new ID #, etc. wouldnt they? No. They wouldnt. Maybe if our population wasnt rising by the millions every month it wouldnt be such an issue. How do you say "hold your damn horses" in spanish?

No the debate started before 911/ The first I heard some negative rhetoric and rightly so, was when Loretta Sanchez ran against Bob Dornan for COngressman. Bob Dornan demanded an investigation prior to the election and after the election lost by hundreds. He PROVED illegal immigrants did voted in this election in significant numbers, but the courts devided that there is not enough illegal immigrants to effect the election. Prior to this debate, Chinese illegal immigrants were the main topics.

PS, do you expect us to take a youtube video with cats name Pinky and Daisy seriously.

As for Xenophobia, the problem is Multiculturalism does not work. I spent too much time seperating people of different cultures, and few of tehm were born Americans. For people to get along together, you need to have one standard of rules. THis is what was handed down to us by th UNITED NATION. People who enter a new country must respect the culture of the new country. There is no requirement of the country to respect the culture of those who newly arrived.

CUltural racism is when a person enters a community and forces their culture onto others, basically stating their culture is better than ours. Cultural racism is NOT whan a person enters a new community and the new community expect him to adhere to the rules of said community.

I do believe as American we should try to be tolerant of other cultures, but our culture must prevail in all conflicts. The cat says that there are a group of people who is trying to tell us what is being American, well they can't . It's the community that does. THe Community is the majority of the AMerican people. If a vistor comes in to our country, we do not have an obligation to allow them in our community, and it is wrong of them to dictate what our culture should entail. Our cultue for a very long period has decided that those who are born here, or born of parent of those who are citizens, or fought under our flag or those who enter here , lived here for a while and pass an exam are REAL Americana. Anyone else should not and does not deserve a voice in our decision.

Edit: I didn't finish the Video. It was too long and frankly I don't want to be lectured at by a cartoon cat. No offense to Chuck Jr.

for sure no longer. They deported lower than 2 hundred,000 human beings very last twelve months, all instructed, yet by ability of position of origin protection estimates they'd over six hundred,000 criminal extraterrestrial beings come into prisons and jails very last twelve months, yet sanctuary cities are disregarded. they are not even going after the low putting fruit. Granted that's larger than it changed into the first 6 years of Bush's Presidency, it isn't even upkeep on the inflow.

Roderick, Illegal immigration is neither hype or phobia, it is a fact of life. just the simple fact that you take the time to address the issue proves out my point.
You support them if you wish, I will continue defending My country like my ancestors have done for over 500 years. Criminal Trespassers have no place, or any rights within the sovereign boundaries of the United States of America. Anyone who aids or abets illegal immigrants is guilty of criminal behavior. Read the federal laws concerning this issue.

LOL, the missing link is that those in new country will be mostly composed of poor uneducated settlers, with more and more poor poorly educated settlers coming by the millions, that means that they will have to declare their country bankrupted very quickly

Illegal aliens are a reality in the US. There are tens of MILLIONS of them who are here. It isn't either hype, OR a phobia. You can't be xenophobic against people who are made up of ALL races across the globe...including the same as your heritage is.

People who have to rely on pointing fingers and calling names to people who don't agree with them, have already lost the debate.

No, its been a problem for a long time, just growing. I lived in CA in the 70's, and it was a problem then. I think the only difference is that it is now affecting the whole country - most of the states - instead of being confined to the Southwest and Florida.
