Of course not saying something is the same as lying. I mean you might as well be lying.

Were you married when this happened? If so, and it was minor incident, you should have told her. If it's something that would hurt her, let it go and avoid the subject. If it had nothing to do with your wife, then tell her so.
Better yet, tell her when you think the time is right you will disuss it. If it's about another woman, you'd better leave this lie hidden. Ages ago means a long long time, and you probably forgot about it.
If it has to do with jealousy, then by all means tell her
hmmmmmmmmmm I haven't thought about this in ages.
I didn't think it was serious enough to have remembered it.
Did she find out from a friend? If so, avoid this friend!!!
Why bring it up now.

well she is going to the extreme a bit sounds like this happened before you knew her so tell her that you didn't realize that you had to tell her about everything, but if she wants she can ask now before you get older and start forgeting, because obviously you forgot to tell her about this, and also how far back does she want you to go, you know play her game to the extreme as well and then ask her all about herself....what do you think
I don't think it is lying if you didn't intentionaly omit it as in you knew if you told her she would be angry, then it is a lie by omition.

It's called lying by omission, and yes, it's lying if you consciously decided not to tell her because you thought you'd get into trouble. Not telling her what you had for lunch - not lying. Not telling her you were having an affair, cheated on your taxes, are an ex-convict, have an STD -- lying by omission.

Yes, or the same as lying, anyway. The betrayal felt is exactly the same.
