It could be argued that all sperm cells are alive and have "Life", so why kill hundreds of thousands of sperm cells just to make one baby?

Once you have a defiition of life, then you can argue about Abortion..

For me it's sentience, not just a heart-beat. Once we determine at what point a foetus becomes a sentient human , then we can set an accurate boundary for Abortion.

Then, of course, there's the problem of defining sentience. We don't really have a good, quantifiable definition of that either.

And what about people who don't meet that qualification? There are some severely developmentally disabled and autistic people who might not reach the standard of true sentience. Does this mean they have no worth as human beings?

I agree with you totally that there's no easy way to say "that's a human" and "that's not a human", which is one reason why it's pretty much impossible to rationally debate abortion.

It's totally an emotional position, with no definitive answer possible that everyone can agree on.

Do a sperm or an egg become a human without the other? I fail to see why so many have a problem with this issue these days.

Life begins when the two join as one. From that point on abortion is murder and evil.

I like the bumper sticker I saw the other day:

If it isn't a baby it isn't a life.
