There is no hard n' fast rule or program to get you habituated. I normally recite it after offering my Fajr.salah'. Start slow and easy, take up one page daily. Gradually build up. In spite of starting 6 months back, I prefer 2 pages in a day. But remember its not the recitation and perfect intonation, but the meaning behind the scriptures and surah's which matter the most. Inshallah you will succeed in reading it daily. All the best.

I am not a Muslim but I read an article about Ramadan in the Marine newspaper.

The article said most families after iftar will read one section each night and that is why the Quran is broken into 30 parts.

I was also amazed to read that if a Muslim can't fast due to medical conditions that they must feed 3 poor people for everyday thay do not fast which can be done by bringing the food, inviting them for food or volunteering money or time at a homless shelter or soup kitchen.

Companions of Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) said "we use to read ten verses of the Quran, then we will learn the explanation of the verses, then how to work those ten verses into daily life, after this is accomplished we would read Another ten verses"..

If a person is reading the Quran just to read and finish it, the Quran will have no meaning, it would be like just reading some other book.. We need to take time and understand and learn the Quran just not reading it.. We need to follow Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) and his companions examples.. Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) was not given the message in one month.....

you said before your a atheist and now your here answering this Qestion as if your a Muslim?
About different versions of the Quran your incorrect.
During the period of Uthmans rule, yes! Imcomplete Qurans or Qurans that other people had tried to write or change were ordered to be burned. Not because they were different versions or because parts of the Quran are missing this was done to preserve the Quran..The Quran has been unchanged it you have not given any proof with your statement..
Being a man of logic and understanding I would assume you would have given research stating these things happened.

start by reading 2 pages daily. I normally read after maghrib prayer. Be sure to read daily if possible. It will take about 300 days to complete. At the same time understand the meaning of each sentence. After 2 years increase the number of pages to 4 per day. Once you got the momentum you'll enjoy reading the Holy Quran.

Just like the way you manage your time for different work outs, Set up sometime for Quran as well. When you are at home, you can do that by reading Quran for lets say 20 mins 5 times a day right after your each prayer.

And when you are busy at work, then when ever you get home, you can def. read it after your prayer.

For the last 3 years I complete my Quran during Ramadan. It all depends upon your management of timings and your enthusiasm. :)

All the best (Y)

Salam
Are my fingers on my hand the same? Surely not but they all work together to make my hand. Everyone has their own pace as created by the Lord Allah SWT.

One line at a time, with all the explainations of Tefeer. Without the Tefseer and Al Hadith you have not really read the Quran.
Its not about completion its about understanding every single word and every word between the words. Its about 1428 years long. Do you have that kind of time? Think about it!

as'salamu alaikum

First you read the history on how the great Qu'ran has been compiled, iterated and edited many times long after the death of Muhammad Abdullah (PBUH). Also learn about how certain versions of Qu'ran were destroyed by those who wanted to become an authority and self styled custodian of it, so on and so forth.

Your next task would be to read the Qu'ran cover to cover couple of times. Not reading like a Harry Potter book. Not even graphical and phonetic reading, but REAL READING! As you'd do in case of a book on physics or mathematics. If you do not shy away from Medinan verses, then you'd get to know what Qu'ran is asking you to do,.

Thereafter, you'd have two options;

1. Whether to ritually read Qu'ran everyday progressively to complete, or
2. to dump it for ever.

I didn't mortgage my intelligence to secure a seat in 'zannat', and I opted for later option. It is now up to you, whether you'd succumb to fear psychosis or become a rational humanist.

First you should set a goal. That is what I try to do! Just think you can read a Juz a night for a month. Their are 30 and then you will finish within a month. Each Juz is not that long.

I purchased a Quran that is divided into 30 books. That way I can read a section everyday and be finished in a month. Its really motivating that way, and it feels easier to get through it.

7 Reasons to Read the Glorious Quran

By: Shabir Ali

(1) Intimate:

It dares you to disprove it. How? It says that humans can not write a book like this even if they pooled all their resources together and got help also from the spirits. The Quran said this fourteen hundreds years ago and yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions of books have been written - but not another one like the Quran.

(2) Incorruptible:

It is the only religious sacred writing which has been in circulation for such a long time and yet remains as pure as it was in the beginning. The Quran was kept intact. Nothing was added to it; nothing was changed in it; and nothing was taken away from it ever since it was completely revealed 1400 years ago.

(3) Unsurpassable:

The Quran is God's final revelation to humankind. God revealed the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, and finally the Quran to Muhammad. Peace be upon all of them. No other book will come from God to surpass his final revelation.

(4) Indisputable:

The Quran withstands the test of time and scrutiny. No one can dispute the truth of this book. It speaks about past history and turns out right. It speaks about the future in prophecies and it turns out right. It mentions details of physical phenomena which were not known to people at the time; yet later scientific discoveries confirm that the Quran was right all along. Every other book needs to be revised to accord with modern knowledge. The Quran alone is never contradicted by a modern discovery.

(5) Your Roadmap for Life and Afterlife:

The Quran is the best guidebook on how to structure your life. No other book presents such a comprehensive system involving all aspects of human life and endeavor. The Quran also points out the way to secure everlasting happiness in the afterlife. It is your roadmap showing how to get to paradise.

(6) God's Gift of Guidance:

God has not left you alone. You were made for a reason. God tells you why he made you, what he demands from you, and what he has in store for you. If you operate a machine contrary to it's manufacture specification you will ruin that machine. What about you? Do you have an owner's manual for you? The Quran is from your function for success lest you fail to function. It is a healing mercy from God. It satisfies the soul, and cleans the heart. It removes doubts and brings peace.

(7) Your Calling Card to Communicate with God:

Humans are social creatures. We love to communicate with other intelligent life. The Quran tells us how to communicate with the source of all intelligence and the source of all life- the One God. The Quran tells us who God is, by what name we should address God, and the way in which to communicate with God. Are these not seven sufficient reasons for reading the Quran?
