I'm going to a girls night out Holiday potluck and I need something good to make. I can bring an appetizer or a dessert. The girls seem to go for things that loook really nice and are usually high in calories, but hey it's a party. Any good suggestions?

INGREDIENTS
12 whole fresh mushrooms
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Clean mushrooms with a damp paper towel. Carefully break off stems. Chop stems extremely fine, discarding tough end of stems.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and chopped mushroom stems to the skillet. Fry until any moisture has disappeared, taking care not to burn garlic. Set aside to cool.
When garlic and mushroom mixture is no longer hot, stir in cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, black pepper, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Mixture should be very thick. Using a little spoon, fill each mushroom cap with a generous amount of stuffing. Arrange the mushroom caps on prepared cookie sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the mushrooms are piping hot and liquid starts to form under caps.

Classic Cheesecake bites. Cut pieces of cheesecake into squares and cover them with the chocolate coating that hardens fast like certain types of syrups made especially for ice cream brands.

Salads are always great. Chinese salads, fruit trays, or stop by Quiznos for a tray of sandwiches in bite sizes, perfect for hand fed food.

Calamari is great if you like seafood. Another great dish would be crispy chicken wings. Because it's girls night out, eating with your hands but be fun... so keep things that are piecey, crispy, or individual rather than soups and casserole type of dishes.

Brownies are great, chocolate chip cookies, Pecan Pies, or ice cream cake is good too.

I'm not much of a cook, so I keep is simple! There is nothing like a plate of brownies with rich chocolate frosting. It's quick and easy to prepare. Not too mention, it's a real treat. Since a person doesn't usally eat that much "rich" junk in a day. I buy my frosting and just spread it over the brownies. Just be sure you don't over cook your brownies, you still want them to be moist and slightly "gooey". Good Luck and enjoy your girls night out!

An easy appetizer that looks good and IS good, is:

a block of cream cheese, cover with cocktail sauce, sprinkle with a generous amt of baby shrimp and sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with good crackers.

cocktail meatballs in grape jelly, chili sauce combo, heated up and keep in a small crockpot.

mini cream puffs....always,always a hit. Dust with pwdr sugar or serve with melted hot chocolate sauce.
