My parents are visiting from interstate next week, but we don't have a bed for them to sleep in. We have room to put a spare bed in, but we don't want to keep it set up.

Can you recommend a temporary bed that can be folded away/hidden/thrown out after use that they can reliably use for a few days? ie. one suggestion we had was an inflatable bed (I was warned they can puncture in the middle of the night).

Thanks a bunch!

I would suggest a futon for them. When not in use as a bed, it's a sofa and you must be able to use the sofa somewhere.

I think the best solution would be for them to use your bed and for you to shift on to the couch/inflatable/futon. We just did this when my father-in-law came to visit- it's the most respectful way to go- you don't want to break your parents on a temporary bed. You will recover faster and everyone will have a better visit. Of those temporary bed options, the Aero brand makes the most comfortable blow-up mattresses, which I think is your best bet if you want something that doesn't take up much space. They are the most expensive but you can actually sleep on them (I had a friend who used one for all of grad school!). Plus they go in a closet when not in use.

Okay your parents...give them your bed period!
just get the inflatable bed for you in your spare room and don't worry they won't pucture in the middle of the night just make sure you don't inflate it too much because it won't be comfortable for you.

Or make reservations to the nearest motel/hotel in your area

Let them have your bed and you get a air bed, they are comfortable

Call India and get a bed of nails, this way your guests won't stay too long.
