I am putting together a cook book. I used the helper in the software program and I am more confused than ever. I want to make an index for the back of my book. Does anyone know how to make one?

Example

INDEX

Apples.............6
Bananas..........10
Ice cream........8
Pears...............11

Thanks, the hyper link idea is good.

Office 2007 has a pretty clear set of instructions on how to do this. I expect there are similar topics in Office 2003
1) Mark the words you want in the index. This can be done using the References tab and choosing "Mark Entry".
2) Position to the point in the document where you want the index (the end). In the References menu, click Insert Index.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking. Are you saying you want the index so when you click on apple it will take you to that page??

If so, then you need to make a hyperlink to it.
Hi-lite say apple. The choose Insert and Hyper link. Choose insert in this document. On the right you should see where Apple page 6 is, and check that,.

Hope you understand, its a little hard to explain
