Many churches do this because of control. Control means more money.

I've been attending church (4 churches in all because I've moved a lot) since I was 13 (that's 19 years) and no one has ever tried to micro-manage me or anyone else I know.

I'm sure there have been some oddball churches and ministers who do try to do that, but they are extremely few and far between the norm.

There are also a lot of things that non-churchgoers think and believe about churches that are simply ridiculous. Would you take the dining advice of someone who never eats out?

First Marriage is a Religious thing. Marriage came from every religion around the world of when a MAN and WOMAN joined to CREATE A FAMILY OR CHILDREN. a CIVIL UNION is when people join outside of religion, agree to live with each other such as cohabitation (without the POSSIBLE problems of MARRIAGE), or when homosexuals join. if they want the same right then call it a union as some people do (of heterosexual couples call themselves since they are not married and do not wish to be). There is a difference between wanting equality and then wanting to force your opinion on yourself. If the U.S. were to give them the same benefits as a heterosexual couple but define them as a UNION (with or without certification such as a union license equalling a marriage license) then would the homosexuals stop complaining??? As for inheritance that is what wills are for. If someone is TOO STUPID or TOO LAZY to fill out a will then that is the family's fault for having to deal with the court system. STUPID AND LAZY people deserve what they get. SECOND if a state and all its voters decide they are against gay marriage then that means the GAYS should either move or wait another day. DEMOCRACY IS ABOUT MAJORITY WINS not forcing the little guys crying hearted wines on the majority.

Yes I would like to know that too,I have been to a few of those in my lifetime.I once had a Methodist minster to lecture me on smoking while having a pack of Salem in his shirt pocket. lol.I once started a row in the church because I refused to let my daughter wear shorts and jeans to Sunday service.I did ask him if he had any lecherous men in his congregation and that's why he thought that was appropriate attar for a child? I do have a big mouth sometimes. And last but not least last Christmas I was truly offended with the sevice on drinking. It was CHRISTMAS and we are allowed some small drink ha ha.Although I do not drink I felt real compassion on the faces around,it was Christmas eve.We didn't even get the christmas story and yes I quit that church. So I guess they just pick and choose who to pick on,the entire congregation was over 55 except for one couple that were in the early 20's.I am still alittle miffed. Thanks for your great question.

I have probably been to about 50 different churches and none has ever tried to micro manage my life, where did you get this?

None that I have attended, but in smaller churches people tend to get closer and more involved with each other. If a brother or sister comes to me and lovingly points out some error I may have fallen into, I hope I could receive it and benefit. I know I am still learning.

Well, that's the purpose of non-profit Churches which promote monopolies:

All pew renters are turned into robots.

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Where do you get that idea? Only some cults do that.
Most religions try to discern G*Ds will & proclaim it.
People have the gift of free-will, & the responsibility.

most people who seek out religion feel as though they can not manage or structure their lives without 'god'. the church provides this service for people.
