I was kind of surprised to see that 53% of Wyoming's population is non-religious.

It was in the Denver Post. I'm not sure what the methodology for that is.

As I am from Wyoming I find that hard to believe. Grew up in Casper (where Dick Cheney is from - my family knows him). And that wasnt that long ago - maybe 30 years - and it would have been the same as mainstream US if not more - - 90% Christian. There are plenty of churches. I know growing up there were several in walking distance. There are towns there - some fairly large and even the little communities have a church. Now I havent been back there in a while but I do have relations still living there and it cant have changed that much.

I am suspicious of polls. Pretty easy to get in to one demographic and have the answers skewed. I'm not Christian myself but still find that statistic hard to believe.

Edit - I found an article that says 50% of Wyoming people are unaffiliated to any particular religion - which would not mean they are not religious - just dont belong to a particular church. I wouls still say 80-90% would call themselves Christian, just dont follow a particular sect. That is in line with what the majority of the country is.

Well hard to answer that if you've never been to Wyoming and I haven't. All I ever see of it are pretty pictures of the mountains.

However, in some very rural areas I can see where self-reliance and reliance on a fellow human being would make one question why they need a deity.

I believe in God and would love to live in Wyoming. I have been there many times and it is so beautiful.

I have to say, I really don't know much about Wyoming. That's interesting though.

LOL, It's because it's so spread out that nobody can find a church. The western part (Yellowstone & The Tetons) are beautiful though.

I think Dick Cheney is from Wyoming.

I have nothing more worthwhile to say, except that I'm surprised.

Believe me, it's better than living in the fundie-controlled Bible belt.
