Yes, the PS3 should be avaliable in most stores around December 18th and you should be able to walk in about any store and pick one up without them selling out. Most places like Best Buy have many PS3's in stock.

You should be able to find a PS3 at any gaming or electronics store throughout the holiday season.
If you are looking for a 60GB PS3 though, which has the best backward compatibility of all models, you might have a hard time finding one come December 18, seeing as Sony has stopped making them. If you look hard enough though, you could probably find one
