Hi, I am running Kubuntu 7.10 on my desktop right now. I have OpenSuse 10.3 running in virtual box and I thought Sabayon Linux looked awesome, but since its Gentoo based its kind of difficult so I am running Sabayon on virtual box to get some practice and stuff. The best thing about Sabayon is compiz fusion is built in to it so as soon as u run live cd all the drivers required load up and u can have Linux user's favorite wobbly windows and stuff.
Good Luck!

Ive curently got a problem with my Windows Vista Premium (my fault), so have loaded Ubuntu 7.10. I did not like it at all, Ugly and unpleasant to use, some missing drivers, (had to use on-board sound). Overall I found it far too basic..and slower than Vista (could not use 'ready boost' etc to speed things up).
Could not find any good spyware / firewall Etc for it. Could not work out if its included or not.
I will try pc-Linux 2007, but am not expecting much.
Ubuntu 7.10 does not do high end desktops any favors.
On the plus side, for a computer novice its simple to use because its so basic, great for low price computers. Quick to install and for the cost of a blank cd, its excellent value.

At this exact moment in time I am actually using Windows XP,but during the last couple of weeks I have been running Fedora 8 live cd and Puppy 3.01 live cd.The latter is obviously the smaller distro and I find it very fast as a live cd.Both distros have a firewall pre-installed.Another favourite live cd is PCLinuxOS 2007 and I used this for some months earlier this year along with Simply Mepis 7 Beta 5.I make a point of trying most Linux distros if only by way of live cd or use of the ISO with VirtualBox.

I'm using Ubuntu 7.10, but it's far from perfect, I've had to try linux 4 times before getting it to work with my hardware and still it has some problems.
But Compiz is great and it works reasonably well on my crappy ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics card.

Fedora 7 on my new computer, Ubuntu 7.04 on my old laptop. Fedora 7 is the only Linux distro I could get my wireless card working in (needed certain drivers).

For my purposes Ubuntu is good.
I have the Knoppix live for emergencies, has come in handy a time or two.
A machine at work for video logging runs Fedora.

Puppy Linux, because it's a small download, easy for a non-expert, and will sit alongside Win XP without trouble.
