I love this. I m feeling so annoyed with folks insulting the intelligence of good kind hearted people and the culture of children. So hear me out: Quantum Mechanics, Diffusion, Mass, the theory of relativity all have the same thing in common backing them up: ruminations from highly qualified people. None of them involve any truth and are widely believed by people with the intelligence of Nobel Prize winners. But the truth is they are WRONG! Stop the insults! Everybody is wrong. And nobody but nobody built an atomic weapon from our beliefs in Santa, the Easter Bunny or interest in the Loch Ness monster. But the fools who claimed to know the truth gave us more death than we ever thought our great wonderful scientific knowledge of the truth could provide. Religion got it right: The Logos, God's perfect thought, everything comes from God, Knowledge is divine, Love, Peace, redemption, messianic times, end times, angels, demons, life after death .... it's all right.

I don't believe anyone has ever committed acts of genocide in the name of fairy tales. However, hthey have in the name of Judaism (read Joshua), Islam (as recently as 100 years ago in Turkey) and Christianity.
Fairy tales are FAR more benign.

Almost. You don't hear of people being shunned, attacked, or killed because they believed in a different fairy tale, have you?

No, they aren't the same.
There is a big difference between a being who exists by logical necessity and a being whose inventors admit is mythological (Santa and the Easter Bunny). And while modal logic does not support the existence of Nessie, it certainly supports the existence of God.

Yes.
Despite the rabid claims of the believers, there is no evidence backing religious claims. No trace of angels or demons, no hint of any kind of divine creator at all.

Gee, it seems to me it would quite a lot of intelligence to make all that stuff about religion. What an imagination! Do you think you could do better? There might be a lot of money in it. Or are you afraid you might not succeed?

Okay ... since you asked, I heard you out. Problem is, you have nothing to say. Do you really think you have some sort of insight here? No, it's not the same and it only shows your own ignorance to suggest it is. Please go back to the shallow end of the pool quick - you are way over your head.

Man made religion is man trying to reach God. Christianity is God reaching down to reach man in the person of Jesus Christ.
