A few days ago I got contact lenses. I'm doing very well with putting them in and taking them out. I can not feel the right lense. But the left lense feels like it is rubbing againt my lower eye lid. Is it normal to feel this discomfort? It's not so much of an ache as it is an annoyance. Should I call my doctor right away?

You should call your doctor. Contact lenses are expensive! They are supposed to fit your eye comfortably and you should not be experincing this.

Contact lens fit is based on the curvature of your eye. While they should get more comfortable over time, and you'll get better and better with positioning them, if the curvature is off, they'll remain quite uncomfortable.

Ask your optometrist/optician if you have an abnormal eye shape.

Try some free samples before you purchase contact lenses. Various brands will vary slightly. Some people prefer hard lenses (which have the advantage of moulding your eye to the shape of the lens).

Good rule to live by: When in doubt, take it out. It could be something minor like a schlazion under the lower lid- but it would be advisable to get it checked out. If you're wearing disposables, try another lens- your optician/optometrist should be able to get you a replacement lens.

Yes, go back to your Dr. You are not supposed to feel a well fitting contact lens. In most cases follow up care for contacts is at little or no cost. Also, this could lead to abrasions of your eye and infections very quickly. They can fix it. Go in Monday.

if these are soft contacts, are you sure its not inside out? remember soft ones sometimes shift in the storage cup or you flip them accidentally. take it out, rinse it off, flip it to the other side, and see what you get. if it still feels strange, take it off immediately and consult a professional because you can scratch your cornea and that would be VERY bad
