No the Police should continue to use the Taser.
What people need to do is obey the lawful orders given by the Police.
That way they can avoid being Tased.

Tasers are not fatal. I had to be shot with the taser in order to carry one. Tasers are safer than impact weapons, as they do not leave any lasting effects. I can not break a bone, or cause a concussion with a taser. There are times I would rather beat the crap out of some stupid criminal, but unfortunately I have the taser now so I have to resort to it. The taser is not used unless it is necessary to prevent injury to the suspects, civilian or officer. Please do some more research before you jump to conclusions about the taser.

Please show one case where the use of a taser was the primary reason for the death. Most death are NOT from the taser, but from other causes not related to the taser.
Also please show me how you came to the conclusion that police are using tasers when they shouldn't? From what I've seen, in a majority of taser incidents, the officers were justified AND cleared.

To be honest with you I wish that I would remember to use my baton more often. However, training has made me go to the Taser "to inflict less chance of a perminant injury" on the individual. I beleive that if officers went back to the baton then there would be an outcry for taser use. This is a one sided liberl fight. I have used the taser at least a dozen times with no perminant injury or complications. I have been tazed with no complications. What people do not understand is that there are times when officers are justified in deadly force and use the taser...Doing without the taser would do more harm.

They need to keep using them. I have said before that the Taser is a "compliance" tool. It was designed to force compliance when there is none. The fact that a few people have died after being tased is unfortunate but no solid proof (unless someone can show that these deaths were a direct result of being tased) has been shown that it was the actual tasing that caused it. Every new device that is used is going to be challenged by someone that doesn't agree with it.

I agree with Trooper3, taser are much safer than guns, and the death are mainly because of the drug use,or alcohol use in their system, so I think police should keep on using taser.

Yes, if people cooperated, there wouldn't be a need for a taser. I don't think police should stop using them, it gives them an option of less than lethal force. It is unfortunate that a death might occur, but what is the alternative, beating someone into submission with a club? Or using a firearm?
If people don't want to get tased, they should do what police tell them to.

No, because police officers should have whatever it is that they need in order to protect themselves against a criminal.
When a police officer tells you to do something, then you better do it... I do believe they give you a warning first.
If officers stop using their tasers, then they will probably have to use their guns instead... now I can't see how that could possibly be a better option.

Yes, we use them here.
No, they should not be removed from service. As for them being used when not necessary... Where? If they do not know the proper methods and when to use them, they should not have employed for use in their departments. After all, it is another alternative to deadly force. Its use helps eliminate, and has eliminated injuries and possible deaths, to BOTH officers and suspects.
With proper training and the understanding of their operation, this type of argument is toothless. Maybe instead of eliminating the taser, we should be asking, "were they trained in its use?"

Police should continue to use Tasers. They are effective. Police are trained to use superior force when dealing with perps. They would then have to use fire arms if they could not use Tasers.
If perps would listen when police give them instructions, they would not have a problem. Put the blame where it belongs, on the troublemakers.
