Dreams and Visions ...

If you had a dream you believed God gave to you and it didn't work out like the dream ended, what should you think?

The reason I believed it was God-given is because the dream actually manifested in real life. Except the ending worked out differently. Well, I guess, what is going on now has worked out differently ... who knows, the ending could come later, but I really doubt it. What to think?

Thank you so much. If anyone wants to know the dream, email me. I feel weird about posting it in the community. Thanks.

Sorry cladiacake ...I had no way of seeing anything like this to happen in the future. Try again with the psychology. But ... thanks for answering (or attempting).

It is hard to comment specifically without any details about what you mean by "it didn't work out". In general, I would suggest that one of the reasons God warns people about predicting the future is that we can alter events based on that information and thereby alter the way things unfold.

I believe God can choose to reveal the future to us for several reasons...the trick is figuring out the reason. For example, God could give you a dream about a future event precisely because he wants you to have the knowledge necessary to prevent it. In other cases, he might be giving you the informatoin so you don't miss an opportunity that's coming your way. In either case, it is quite possible that your foreknowledge of the events causes you to consciously or unconsciously intervene in the situation and your intervention alters the outcome

For example, suppose your dream was about a friend being killed in an accident...you saw the events leading up to it and you saw the outcome. If you then shared this knowledge with your friend, it is possible this friend would be able to avoid the actions that led to the accident...and even if you didn't tell the friend directly, it's possible that you put yourself into the situation in a way that wasn't consistent with the original sequence of events and your very presence altered the outcome.

Another example...suppose God showed you something about the person he wanted you to marry...you saw how you met, saw how the relationship evolved from step to step, and you saw the wedding ceremony and perhaps even some of the "happily ever after". When you met that person in the exact same circumstances you saw in your dream, you threw yourself into the relationship and in an effort to cause it to come out the same way, you altered the relationship and it ended quite differently.

I did this once...in college, I had a recurring dream about meeting a man at a specific place...I didn't recognize the place but the details were quite vivid. We dated and ended up married (I saw various scenes in different dreams). A few years later, I walked into a club I'd never visited before and was shocked to discover it was the place from my dream...I looked across the room and saw the man from my dream wearing the same clothes I'd seen him wearing on the night we met in my dream. We started dating but after a few months, he broke up with me. I didn't understand why it had happened until I started comparing my actions in the dream to my actions in the real world...in the dream, a friend introduced us...in reality, I followed him around waiting for that opportunity...in the dream, he pursued me...in reality, I pursued him. Instead of sitting back and enjoying the ride while it unfolded, I tried to force the situation to unfold the way I thought it was destined to unfold...and in doing so, I altered the situation and the relationship!

I think that dreams are funny sometimes we feel like they are from God when they are really not. However if you feel like the Holy spirit is telling you that it is from the Lord then I am sure it is. I really am curious what the dream was but I will try and take a stab at answering any way. From my own personal experience it has never seemed to be what was in the dream so much as a way to "wake me up". What I mean by that is to refocus me on Christ or to change the path I was going down.

I don't think God gave you a dream; I think you only believe that He did. If God had actually given you a vision of the way things were going to be, then things would have been that way with no deviation. God, unlike Hollywood, doesn't have alternate endings. What you experienced was dream precognition. Precognition in dreams can give you glimpses into the future where you are informed about events coming into your life and others. Sometimes the information is somewhat garbled and not "spot on" in the way the events play out, leaving people to doubt the validity of their visions.
They are not messages from God, but from our own subconscious.

I beleive the lord communicates through dreams and wants us to take certain actions but free will can change things and most of that dream was probably meant for you but i've had dreams like that before and was sure things would work out like they ended in the dream. Give it a little while and see what happens, no matter what it will end the way god wants it too.

I had a dream I believe was given by God where I went off the cliff in a car wreck. I prayed it would not happen but it did. The thing is I survived it. I think it was a warning......and it wasn't exactly the same but I think you should ask God to seperate what was truth from fiction in the dream. Ask him to show you. If you need to know he will reveal things to you.

What you need to consider her is - is this dream from God or is it from satan? Third, is the dream just random chance? I would think that if the dream didn't work out - well in most cases anyway - it's just random chance going on in your brain. Like your subconscious mind takes situations and creates endings and solutions. It may or may not be correct. Without knowing more specifics - it's hard to say. But, in most cases with God - he pushes you to have faith in Him for things that are beyond you and beyond repair. Many times my own personal experience has been that God many times tests my faith to help me grow. He in the past provides the solution - when I'm at the point of being afraid that He is not working things out. Then, it's a worship moment. God is faithful - we are hardly in comparison.

If, you believe God gave you a deraam, first don't let Satan steal it..talk to your pastor, or someone you believe is sold out for Jesus, sometimes God gives us pieces to things but like in the bible the pharoh of egypt had a dream but dint understand it nor could he interpret it God gives some the ability to interpret so pray that God send or give you someone to help you understand but always remember that sometimes feelings and emotions do add to what God is saying so seperate the to.

God was probably leading you in the right direction. Just because it didn't end the same as in the dream, it ended in his will. God will always be in control and just because we don't get the answer in our timing doesn't mean he hasn't answered. Don't doubt him and you'll get what you want in one way or another. Good luck and nice question.

God gives us agency...so if we are shown a revelation of a possible future, that future is still contingent on what we ultimately decide to do. Therefore, God will not "will" something to happen to you. Instead, He gives you the knowledge, dream, etc. on how to make your dreams come true, but it depends on you to follow that knowledge.

You should put no stock in dreams or visions. God's revelation is given to us in the Bible which declares that nothing more is to be added to it. God spoke to the OT prophets through dreams and visions, but that has ended.

Coloss 2:18 Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind,
