I see the standard saver return for Stoke/London is £49, but
you can get a 'Value Advance Single' each way for as little as £12.50 but you need to be in quick as these sell first (but you must use the train time they are sold for). The later you leave it the less chance of getting these cheap tickets though.

You don't say when you are returning, but looking on www.thetrainline.co.uk I have found that you can get a value advanced single B for £18.50 from Stoke to London on 1/12/07 (leaving around 11am). If you are coming back the same day there are some singles at that price on the 22.06. The trainline always gives you the option of checking whether two singles are cheaper.

National Express Coaches go from your Town (or from Birmingham), they are much cheaper. look at their web site at http://www.nationalexpress.com . Depending on the time and day they have fares for as little as £6 from Hanley Bus Station to Victoria, London although the journey does take nearly 4 hours.

You should be able to book a "super Saver" were you not offered this? It can be difficult online...go to the station and ask there...they are a lot cheaper...

Have you phoned Virgin and asked??

the operators can often find cheaper tickets than those online.

Impossible to help without knowing what time and date you are travelling.
