Is this a myth or is this really true?

Foods cannot directly cause cancer, but your diet can increase your risk. For example, high-fat diets and red meat have been linked to a higher risk of colon cancer, and high-salt diets with stomach cancer. But these things do not directly cause cancer, it just increases your risk for it. Cancer is a process that occurs as a result of environmental and genetic influences.

Some things that can be verified:
(1) If the can is punctured, bacteria can get in and cause food poisoning. Even if the can is just dented, it can still weaken the protective lining.
(2) If the can has been opened, you should not use it for storage and then eat from it. This also allows for contamination.
(3) The CONTENT of the food is more likely to be full of preservatives that are probably not healthy for your body, and could be linked to cancer.

I would be more concerned about that -- the preservatives and fats and animal products that do not move through the body naturally as raw or fresh fruit and vegetable products. It has been known that the meat ingested in the average American diet lingers in the body and is correlated with colon cancer caused by the enzymes of the meat breaking down in the digestive system including the intestines. So in general, it is better to avoid excess meat and especially meats with hormones or preservatives that are not natural for the body where the longterm effects are not fully known.

I would check with Vegan websites or resources to know more about the food content and the effects of preservatives, growth hormones and other unnatural or nonorganic chemicals used in various food products.

P.S. The best explanation I have ever heard about cancer is that the body natural sheds cancerous cells on a regular basis. There is a natural flow of healing energy or "life force" where the mind and body naturally heals itself. But when an imbalance or block in the spiritual energy that manifests in the physical body to disrupt or weakne the natural immune system, then the cancer cells that would normally shed instead build up in a part of the body causing a tumor to form. Studies have shown that personalities types that house "resentment" correlate with cancer risk, and studies on forgiveness and spiritual health also show a correlation with better health and healing. For more information on healing and cancer or other diseases from mental illness to incurable medical conditions, I recommend the book "Healing" by Francis MacNutt edition 2001 or later http://www.christianhealinmin.org

In general the attitudes that lead to cancer or addictive behavior or thinking are rooted in the spirit, when then affects the mind and then the body as well to cause physical manifestations of the imbalance; so that full healing and health depends on removing obstructions on all levels from spiritual to mental/emotional to physical and medical conditions. So the holistic approaches to healing the whole mind/body/spirit, where ALL factors are taken into account, seem to be the most successful in addressing all levels.

Everything has been accused of causing cancer at one time or another. The canned food story sounds like a myth, though.

There is no clinical evidence that canned foods cause cancer in human beings. However, during the heating process a substance called furan develops that has been found in canned foods. When furan is tested in high doses on lab animals it is found to 'cause cancer' . . you should remember though that human beings and small lab animals are not the same. It is believed that the risk is slight to humans, but research continues.

So, the answer is that no one knows what 'causes' cancer in humans and there is no evidence that the small amount of furan that occurs during the heating process 'causes' cancer in human beings.

Every thing you put in your mouth is or has poison in it.... So you just have to eat and drink things in small doses and you'll be fine
