And God is existant in the consciousness of believers, then doesn't that mean that God does exist, but only to those who believe?

If I raised a child never to know God, not the devil, then wouldn't it be impossible for God to exist in that child's consciousness, therefore, making God real and not real at the same time?

It would make God and the Devil unreal to that child until someone else presented the idea or perception of either of them to that child. Then, they would become real to the child. At least, that's what I think. You had me turn around 5 times and then twisted me back 1 1/2 times so I got confused and lost. Amen, let's eat.

Well, your question starts with "IF", so we have to answer that question first before we can answer your question..Short of that, lets change a few words in your question..If I raised a child to never know the law, not even justice, then wouldn't it be impossible for the law to exist in the child's consciousness, therefore making the law real and not real at the same time?..whether your child knows the law or not does not make the law to cease to exist. I hope that helps.

God has giving everybody a consciousness about his deity.
If you don't teach your child about God somebody will or that child will worship something? When that child ask...Who created the trees...What are you going to say? When your child ask...Well, who can defeat the devil what are you going to say? Good vs. Evil The question is do you believe?

Why do you believe that nothing can exist outside of consciousness? In the temporal world, all things follow their path of past, present, and future. From expectation (future) to existence (present) to memory (past), all things have their order that must be followed regardless of conscious awareness of them.

God, on the other hand, exists outside of time and space. In fact, all things exist within God. This is not to say that God is just one unit larger than the entire universe, since that would imply some sort of spatial limitation. And that is not to say that God exists "one second longer" than any other time frame, for that would imply some sort of temporal limitation. To quite the contrary, God is eternal and immutable, as per His Word to us in the Holy Bible. The progression of expectation to existence to memory does not apply to the One in whom all three exist. Therefore, even if one is consciously unaware of His existence the soul still yearns for eternity with Him.

Interesting, but things do exist outside your own consciousness.

Who said nothing can exist outside of your own consciousness?

That makes so little sense.

umm, yes?

i'm definitely with you on the first couple sentences, especially that what we believe exists does exist. in terms of God, i'm of the persuasion that there *may* be a god, and if so s/he is a cruel/indifferent/laissez-faire/absentee deity.

That's a BIG IF, Rudy.

By your premise, your own child would only exist inside your own consciousness, so whatever you imagined to be true of him/her, then it would be true.

But then again, your premise is absurd.

You don't reveal yourself to God (or to your children etc) HE (God) reveals Himself to you.

It's selfish human nature to think otherwise (and bibliclly inaccurate.)

Not to critisize you but to let you know that we are called by God, not vice versa and I am thankful He loved me enough to reveal Himself to me. So even if you never chose to reveal God to your child, what would stop Him from revealing Himself to them?
