How good are those S-video Y splitters on ebay?

In video (including S) you need to maintain 1volt peek-to-peek so splitting is dangerous. Look for a device called a matching transformer. It will fix the voltage output so it's still 1 volt to each device. Radio Shack used to, and may still, make one for around 25 bucks.

Like anything else on eBay, there is the good, the bad, and the ugly. Try MyCableMart.com and MonoPrice.com for your cables and wiring. Both companies carry quality products at very competitive prices, and are quick and reliable. I doubt you'll actually save much by going to eBay.
