I was a bridesmaid for an evening wedding and had to wear black. It is fine.

Although the general rule is no black and no white at a wedding, I personally feel that for formal, or at the very least semi-formal weddings, black attire is definately okay, especially if you add a punch of color.

I wore black to the last wedding I went to, with brown/gold accents and I had a lot of compliments on my outfit, but I made sure it didn't look funeral-esque lol.

Black is no longer unacceptable at weddings, although you won't see a lot of people wearing black, it's not forbidden any longer. If it's an evening wedding I think you will be fine. Try adding a punch of color with a wrap or jewelry...maybe even shoes=)

Have fun!

I was at an evening wedding last weekend, many of the ladies were wearing black dresses. If you dress it up with some sparkly jewlery, or perarls, it is perfectly fine. Everyone looked so elegant.

It is 100% proper. There was a time when it wouldn't of been. Those days are gone. Black is not only proper, but chic and elegant.

Black is fine. It is very elegant and sophisticated and evening weddings are typically quite dressy. Enjoy!!
